Where your benefit comes from.
From three sources. The first is by far the largest.
- Self-consumption
Using your own solar power yourself. What you use yourself, you don't have to buy. The largest and the most certain.
- Smart charging and selling
Charging when power is cheap, selling when it is expensive. On the expected and on the live price.
- Ready for the grid
A small part of your battery stays free to help the grid. You get paid for that. You choose how much. Our advice: 20 percent.
What it brings you depends on your usage, your battery, your panels, what takes part and what the market does. Nobody can guarantee that in advance. Your adviser works it out from your own figures.
What's needed.

A home batteryFoxESS, AlphaESS or sonnen. We choose for your home, not for our stock.

Not new, but proven.
What the Netherlands faces in 2027 happened in Belgium long ago. Smart‑E‑Grid grew out of Opteco, our Belgian partner company.
In the Netherlands, Smart‑E‑Grid works only with us.
- 2020Belgium ends net metering
- 2021Smart‑E‑Grid starts in Belgium
- 2027The Netherlands ends net metering
What does it cost?
At home there are no monthly costs. The Smart‑E‑Grid contract can be cancelled monthly. The MoMa is a separate line on your quote, so you see exactly what you buy.
For businesses it works differently. Request the energy scan instead.
Is Smart‑E‑Grid an energy supplier?
No. Smart‑E‑Grid is the control system. Your power comes through a dynamic contract with Holland Energie. We arrange that for you.
Does Smart‑E‑Grid switch on my heat pump or air conditioning?
No. It controls the battery, solar panels, EV charger and water heater itself. For your heat pump and air conditioning you get a nudge when power is cheap. You decide whether to use it.
I already have a battery. Can it take part?
We check that at your home. The MoMa reads everything that uses power and has internet, whatever the brand. Whether your battery can be controlled too depends on the brand and the type.
How much does it bring in?
That differs per home. It depends on your usage, your battery, your panels, what takes part, what you free up for the grid and what the market does. Nobody can guarantee that in advance. Your adviser works it out from your own figures.
When does it take over?
After about a month. First Smart‑E‑Grid learns your usage and your home. Then it controls by itself. You see everything in the app, and we keep an eye on it.
