For your home
Go to the pageWhat changes when net metering ends?
On 1 January 2027, net metering (salderen) ends in the Netherlands, according to the Dutch government. Power you feed back can then no longer be offset against power you use.
You get a feed-in payment: until 2030 at least half of the bare supply rate. Suppliers also charge feed-in costs. Power you use yourself is therefore worth the most.
Are solar panels still worth it after 2027?
Yes. According to Milieu Centraal, solar panels still pay for themselves within their lifetime after 2027.
How much you use yourself matters more. Without a battery, an average household uses about 25%. Solar panels on or near your home carry 0% VAT.
Is a home battery worth it for me?
We work that out for you first. While net metering still applies, a battery adds little. After 2027, self-use matters more: with a battery and smart control, you use around 75% or more of your solar power yourself (our guide figure). Milieu Centraal is cautious: in their view you will most likely not earn a home battery back at the moment. That is why we calculate it first.
Our home scan only recommends something if it saves at least € 200 a year and pays back within 10 years.
Can I reclaim the VAT on a home battery?
Sometimes. A home battery carries 21% VAT. According to the Dutch Tax Administration, you can reclaim it if the battery can trade power through an energy management system, you have a dynamic contract with a feed-in payment, and you are not in the small business scheme (KOR).
You then pay VAT on your private use for five years. We look into it with you and handle the application.
How much subsidy do I get for a heat pump?
Through the ISDE. In 2026, a first air-to-water heat pump gets a base amount of € 1,025 plus € 225 per kW, and € 200 extra for energy label A+++. You apply after installation, within 24 months.
The government plans to lower the per-kW amount to € 120 in 2027. If you buy in 2026, the 2026 amount applies, according to RVO. We handle the application.
Does smart control work with what I have, and am I tied in?
Yes, with every brand that uses power and has internet. It steers your battery, panels, EV charger and water heater itself; a heat pump or air conditioner only gets a signal.
What you need: a smart meter that measures every quarter of an hour, a wired internet connection in the meter cupboard, and a dynamic contract with our partner supplier. There are no monthly fees. The contract runs for a year and you can cancel early with one month's notice. It learns your home in about a month.
Home battery
Go to the pageCan I get the VAT back?
You can, if your battery trades on a dynamic contract, the invoice is in your own name and you are not in the small business scheme (KOR). After that you pay VAT for five years on the part you use yourself. We handle the application through De Centrale.
Is there a subsidy for a home battery?
No. There is no ISDE (the Dutch subsidy for sustainable energy) and no other national subsidy for a home battery. You can sometimes reclaim the VAT, though.
Do I need solar panels?
With solar panels you get the most out of it, because the battery then stores your own power. If you don't have panels yet, we look in the consultation at whether panels and a battery fit together.
What does Smart‑E‑Grid do with my battery?
Every 15 minutes it decides what happens to your power: use it yourself, store it, or charge and feed back to the grid at the best price. Your own power first, the grid only when it pays. It learns your home in about a month.
Am I tied in?
Your battery is yours. Smart‑E‑Grid has no monthly costs at home. The contract runs for a year and you can cancel early with one month's notice.
Is a home battery safe?
All three are LiFePO₄: lithium iron phosphate, without cobalt. Our installers fit the battery to NEN 1010 and check beforehand whether your meter cupboard can handle it.
How big should my battery be?
As big as suits your usage, not the biggest. The adviser works it out from your figures. All three can be expanded later.
Solar panels
Go to the pageHow much VAT do I pay?
At or on your home 0%, including on your garage, shed or extension. You don't have to register with the Dutch Tax Administration for this. On business premises without a residential function it is 21%.
Is there a subsidy for solar panels?
No. The ISDE does not apply to solar panels. At your home you do pay 0% VAT.
Which panel suits me?
All three are n-type. They differ in power, efficiency and how they handle shade. The adviser chooses based on your roof, your usage and your budget.
Part of my roof is in the shade. Can that work?
Yes. With optimisers or micro-inverters each panel works on its own, so one panel in the shade does not drag down the rest.
Can I add a battery later?
Yes. We fit a hybrid inverter, so a battery is easy to add later.
What are feed-in costs?
Costs your energy supplier charges for power you feed back. From 2027, suppliers must pass these on to customers with solar panels, says the ACM. The more you use yourself, the less you feed back.
Hybrid heat pump
Go to the pageDoes it work with my gas boiler?
Usually, yes. The Atlantic Aurea works with any existing gas boiler. The Bosch Compress 2000 AWF can run as a hybrid and later fully electric. The Daikin Altherma Hybride replaces your boiler: heat pump and gas boiler in one.
How much subsidy do I get?
In 2026, the ISDE for a first air-to-water heat pump is € 1,025 plus € 225 per kW, plus € 200 for energy label A+++. RVO uses the power on its list of approved models, not the number in the product name. The Atlantic Aurea is listed at 4 kW: € 1,025 + 4 × € 225 + € 200 = € 2,125.
We handle the application.
Will the subsidy be lower in 2027?
That is the plan: € 120 per kW is proposed for 2027. If you sign in 2026 and we install in 2027, you keep the 2026 amount.
Do I need underfloor heating?
No. On the coldest days the boiler takes over, so your radiators can stay.
Is the outdoor unit noisy?
The 4 kW Bosch Compress 2000 AWF makes 40 dB(A) at 1 metre. The adviser looks with you at where the outdoor unit is best placed.
Does it work when it freezes?
Yes. When it gets really cold, your gas boiler takes over.
Does Smart‑E‑Grid control my heat pump?
Your heat pump takes part. You get a nudge when power is cheap or you have solar power to spare, and you choose. Your comfort stays yours.
Heat pump
Go to the pageIs my home suitable for a heat pump?
That follows from the heat loss calculation we make first. Sometimes insulating first is smarter. If so, we tell you honestly.
Does it work with my radiators?
Often, yes. The Atlantic Alfea M and the Bosch 5800i supply water up to 75 °C, the Daikin Altherma 4 H up to 70 to 75 °C. With underfloor heating or low-temperature radiators it runs more efficiently.
How quiet is a heat pump?
The Daikin Altherma 4 H makes 28 dB(A) at 3 metres, the 4 kW Bosch 5800i 26 dB(A) in night mode. That is in their technical data sheets.
What is R290?
A natural refrigerant. It is used in the Atlantic Alfea M, the Bosch 5800i and the Daikin Altherma 4 H.
How is it different from a hybrid heat pump?
A hybrid works together with your gas boiler, which handles the coldest days. An all-electric heat pump does all the heating itself, including your water, without gas.
Radiators and underfloor heating
Go to the pageDoes the floor have to come out for underfloor heating?
No. With milling in, the pipes go into channels in your existing floor. That takes 1 to 2 days per storey.
Do I need underfloor heating for a heat pump?
Not always. A hybrid heat pump works with your ordinary radiators, because the gas boiler steps in when it is cold. For an all-electric heat pump, the heat loss calculation shows whether your radiators give enough heat.
Can I test whether my home is ready?
Yes, with the heating test from Milieu Centraal. During a cold spell, set the heating water of your gas boiler to 50 degrees. It is usually set to 60 to 80 degrees. Open the radiators in the rooms you normally heat.
If your home stays warm, it is ready for a heat pump. If it gets too cold, you probably need to insulate first. A hybrid heat pump does work with your ordinary radiators, because your boiler steps in.
Only lower the heating water, not your hot tap water. The test works with a high-efficiency (HR) boiler, not with a VR boiler.
What are low-temperature radiators?
Larger radiators that still give enough heat at a low temperature. They fit where underfloor heating is difficult.
What is hydraulic balancing?
Setting up the system so that every room gets the right amount of hot water. Then no room is too warm or too cold. It is included.
Do I get a subsidy?
Not for underfloor heating and radiators themselves. For the heat pump, yes: the ISDE. We apply for it for you.
Gas boiler
Go to the pageIs a new gas boiler still a good idea?
That depends on your home. The Dutch government wants a smart hybrid heat pump to become the standard for a new boiler from 2029. That is still only a plan. The adviser looks with you at whether a hybrid already fits now.
Can I connect a heat pump later?
Yes. A hybrid heat pump like the Atlantic Aurea works with all existing gas boilers.
Who fits the boiler?
An approved installation partner. They are responsible for the installation. Your quote shows one total price, including installation.
Does the installer take my old boiler away?
Yes. The installation partner disconnects your old boiler and takes it away.
What does CW mean?
The CW class tells you how much hot water a boiler gives. CW6 is the highest class. The Intergas and the ProLine NxT are CW5, the TrendLine II AquaPower is CW6.
What warranty do I get?
On the heat exchanger 15 years for the Intergas and the TrendLine II, 10 years for the ProLine NxT. On the other parts of the Nefit boilers, 2 years.
Do I get a subsidy for a gas boiler?
No, there is no ISDE for a gas boiler. There is for a hybrid heat pump, and we handle that application.
EV charger
Go to the page11 or 22 kW, what do I need?
Usually 11 kW. Most cars charge at home on alternating current up to 11 kW, so a 22 kW charger is then no faster. We check what your car can do.
Do I need single or three phase?
On single phase you charge up to about 3.7 or 7.4 kW. For 11 or 22 kW you need three phase. The adviser checks what your meter cupboard has.
Will my fuses hold?
Yes. With load balancing, the charger adjusts to what your home is using at that moment. We check your meter cupboard beforehand.
Can I charge on my own solar panels?
Yes. With Smart‑E‑Grid your car charges in the best quarter hour: when you have your own solar power to spare, or when power is cheap.
Can I settle my charging costs with my employer?
For that you need an MID meter. The Zaptec Go 2 has one built in.
Is my meter cupboard suitable?
We check that first, in the consultation. Only then do we plan the installation.
Can my car supply power back to my home?
Not yet. We do not offer supplying power back from your car at the moment.
Heat pump water heater
Go to the pageHow many litres do I need?
For 3 people 200 litres, for 4 people 260 litres, according to the Daikin data sheet. It also depends on how you shower.
The Atlantic Explorer V5 comes in 200, 240 and 270 litres. Atlantic states how much water at 40 °C you get from a full tank at 53 °C: 273 litres from the 200 litre tank, 331 from the 240 and 367 from the 270. Atlantic writes that the Explorer also suits families of 5 people or more.
The adviser works it out with you.
Does it work with my solar panels?
Yes. Smart‑E‑Grid switches the water heater on when you have your own solar power to spare, or when power is cheap.
Does it make noise?
The Atlantic Explorer V5 has a sound power level of 47 dB(A). That is in the technical data sheet.
Does the water get hot enough to prevent legionella?
Both heat the water to above 60 °C: the Atlantic to 62 °C, the Daikin with its element to 75 °C.
Air conditioning
Go to the pageCan an air conditioner heat as well?
Yes. It turns 1 kWh of power into 4 to 5.6 kWh of heat, averaged over the season. In spring and autumn that is an efficient way to add heat.
How quiet is an air conditioner?
Indoors from 19 or 20 dB(A), depending on the model. That is in the technical data sheets.
Who may install an air conditioner?
An installer with an F-gas certificate. Our installers have one.
Does an air conditioner need maintenance?
Yes. After installation we take care of maintenance and the filter service.
Can I cool more rooms?
Yes. With a multi-split, several indoor units connect to one outdoor unit. Bosch has one.
Does Smart‑E‑Grid control my air conditioner?
Your air conditioner takes part. You get a nudge when power is cheap or you have solar power to spare, and you choose.
Insulation
Go to the pageWhere do I start with insulation?
That depends on your home: the year it was built and what is already insulated. The adviser looks at where the most heat leaks away.
What does insulation save?
In an end-of-terrace house, the cavity wall saves the most, then the roof. Milieu Centraal calculates this for an average end-of-terrace house, from no insulation to good insulation, with gas at € 1.37 per m³.
Cavity wall. About 400 m³ of gas a year, roughly € 550.
Roof. A pitched roof, about 340 m³ of gas, roughly € 480.
Glazing. From single glazing to HR++, about 260 m³ of gas, roughly € 350. From ordinary double glazing to HR++, about 70 m³, roughly € 90.
Floor. About 130 m³ of gas, roughly € 180.
What you save depends on your home and what you pay for gas.
Can my home be insulated?
That mostly depends on the year it was built. According to Milieu Centraal:
Roof. Homes built before 1975 got no roof insulation. Until 1992 it was usually a thin layer of 3 to 5 centimetres, which you can improve.
Cavity wall. Homes built after 1920 usually have a cavity. Until 1975 it was usually left empty. From 1975 to 1991 it was almost always insulated, but it can be better.
Floor. Homes built before 1983 usually have no floor insulation. Insulating under the floor works if your crawl space is at least 35 centimetres high.
Glazing. Homes built before 2000 did not get HR++ glass. The bedrooms of homes built up to 1992 may still have single glazing.
For the ISDE subsidy, your home must have been built before 2019.
How can I tell if I already have insulation?
You can check the roof, floor and glazing yourself. For the cavity wall you need an insulation company. According to Milieu Centraal:
Roof. Look behind the panels in the attic or under a roof tile. You will see whether there is insulation and how thick it is.
Wall. Measure how thick your wall is next to a window or door. If it is thicker than 20 centimetres, it is probably a cavity wall. An insulation company checks whether there is insulation in it.
Floor. Open the hatch to the crawl space and look for insulation against the underside of the floor.
Glazing. Look at the strip between the panes. If it says HR, HR+ or HR++, you have insulating glass. If it says nothing, it is probably ordinary double glazing.
How long does it take?
A cavity wall and the crawl-space floor are often done in one day. For the roof and the glazing it depends on your home.
What does insulation cost?
That depends on your home and which part you insulate. You get the price after the survey.
Do I need insulation for a heat pump?
A heat pump works most efficiently at a low temperature. The better your home is insulated, the easier that is. A hybrid heat pump also works in a home that is not yet fully insulated, because the gas boiler steps in when it is cold.
Do you do it yourselves?
Part is done by our own team, part by an approved partner. You have one point of contact: us.
Smart control
Go to the pageWhat does it cost?
At home there are no monthly costs. The Smart‑E‑Grid contract can be cancelled monthly. The MoMa is a separate line on your quote, so you see exactly what you buy.
For businesses it works differently. Request the energy scan instead.
Is Smart‑E‑Grid an energy supplier?
No. Smart‑E‑Grid is the control system. Your power comes through a dynamic contract with Holland Energie. We arrange that for you.
Does Smart‑E‑Grid switch on my heat pump or air conditioning?
No. It controls the battery, solar panels, EV charger and water heater itself. For your heat pump and air conditioning you get a nudge when power is cheap. You decide whether to use it.
I already have a battery. Can it take part?
We check that at your home. The MoMa reads everything that uses power and has internet, whatever the brand. Whether your battery can be controlled too depends on the brand and the type.
How much does it bring in?
That differs per home. It depends on your usage, your battery, your panels, what takes part, what you free up for the grid and what the market does. Nobody can guarantee that in advance. Your adviser works it out from your own figures.
When does it take over?
After about a month. First Smart‑E‑Grid learns your usage and your home. Then it controls by itself. You see everything in the app, and we keep an eye on it.
For your business
Go to the pageMy grid connection is full. What can I do?
First see what is possible now. Since 1 July 2026, small consumers up to 3 × 80 A no longer get extra capacity automatically, and businesses get no priority. On 30 June 2026, 15,498 requests were on the regional grid operators' waiting lists (Netbeheer Nederland).
RVO lists battery storage and a flexible contract among the solutions. We work out what your connection can handle.
Does a battery avoid a heavier connection?
Often, yes. A battery with smart control flattens your peaks, so EV chargers and a heat pump share the capacity of your connection.
The energy scan shows whether that is enough for you.
What does the end of net metering mean for my business?
Net metering also ends for small businesses on 1 January 2027. Power you feed back can then no longer be offset against power you use.
After that, power from your roof that you use yourself is worth the most. In the energy scan we look at how much of it you can use yourself.
Which subsidies and tax relief exist, and when do I apply?
Mind the order. Apply for business ISDE before you place the order; afterwards it is rejected. Apply by 31 December 2026 and the 2026 rates apply. EIA, MIA and Vamil must be reported to RVO within three months of the order.
We advise on which scheme fits. Your accountant files it.
Does my office need energy label C?
Usually, yes. Since 1 January 2023, an office must have at least label C. This does not apply if the office and its ancillary spaces together are under 100 m², or if the office function takes up less than half of the building. An office that does not comply may no longer be used as an office.
Insulation, a heat pump and solar panels help you get there. In the energy scan we check what your building needs.
What does solar on my business premises cost?
It depends on your roof and your usage. After the free energy scan you get a tailored report with options, costs and subsidies.
Solar panels on business premises without a residential function carry 21% VAT. As a business owner, you can usually reclaim that VAT.
I rent my building. Is it still possible?
Often, yes, with the owner involved. Agree beforehand who owns the panels and what happens if you move out.
We discuss it with you and the owner.
For clubs
Go to the pageWhat does it cost the club?
Becoming an energy partner costs the club nothing. The club earns on installations at members' homes and on their energy contract.
Panels or a battery on the clubhouse itself do cost money. We make a quote for that, and we find out which subsidy fits.
Which subsidies exist for our clubhouse?
None right now, BOSA and DUMAVA are expected to reopen in 2027. The 2026 BOSA budget has run out, and DUMAVA is closed until its next round. DUMAVA opens every year up to and including 2030, the 2027 date is not yet known. For BOSA, a draft 2027 round is out for consultation, with applications from 18 January to 1 February 2027. This may still change.
If your club already has solar panels, DUMAVA can also be used for a battery. The minister wrote this on 25 September 2026. The battery must meet the conditions on the RVO list of measures.
We find out which one fits and prepare the application.
What does the end of net metering mean for our club?
That depends on your grid connection. Net metering is only possible with a small connection, up to 3x80 amps. If your clubhouse has one, net metering ends on 1 January 2027. Sports halls and swimming pools usually have a larger connection. Nothing changes for them, the minister wrote in September 2026.
An outdoor sports club generates most of its power during the day and in summer, and uses the most on weekday evenings and at weekends. So the club feeds a lot back to the grid, and from 2027 that earns less. What you use yourselves while the sun shines counts most.
Do we pay tax on what the club earns?
That depends on your club. The income can affect corporation tax or VAT. Discuss it with your treasurer.
Do you get our member list?
No. The club communicates with its own members. We do not receive a member list.
Who decides, and how do we start?
The board or the AGM. We start with a one-season trial with one members' evening. Then you choose whether to continue.
What if the municipality owns the clubhouse?
Then the owner has a say. Whoever owns the building decides on panels and a battery. We discuss it together with the municipality.
What do our members notice?
Members get advice for their own home, from solar panels to heat pumps. For every installation at a member's home, the club earns a commission.
Does the club become an energy supplier?
No. A licensed energy supplier delivers the energy. The club carries no supply risk.
Partners
Go to the pageWhat do I earn as a partner?
That depends on how you work with us. If you refer customers, you earn on every order. We put the amounts in writing after the intro call.
Do I have to install anything?
No, not if you refer customers. We do the survey, quote, installation and aftercare. Installers who work with us install as an approved partner.
Which customers can I register?
Only register customers who have agreed to it. Since 1 July 2026, you may only call private customers and sole traders with their consent.
What does it cost a club?
Becoming an energy partner costs a club nothing. Members who join get advice and installation from us.
Do you work across the Netherlands?
Yes. We are based in Ede and work across the Netherlands.
